Susan Baird`s lifelong interest in drawing developed into an over-whelming desire to paint. She has had the opportunity to attend workshops with nationally known artists including David Leffel, Gregg Kreutz, Leonard Wren, Robert Johnson, and Kenn Backhaus. She has also studied with accomplished Alabama artists, John Lonergan and Les Yarbrough.

Working primarily in oils, Susan enjoys creating still life, landscape and figurative paintings. She especially enjoys the connection to her subjects that she experiences when painting from life. Whatever the subject matter happens to be, it is usually a vehicle for visually communicating the movement of light.

Susan`s drawings and paintings have been exhibited in the annual Alabama Symphony Show Home for the past five years. She has participated in art shows throughout Alabama and is represented by the Arceneaux Gallery in Birmingham, Alabama. She is a member of the Alabama Plein Air Artists.
